The aim of this project is to help the Geelong region achieve fast, reliable and affordable high speed internet access.
Geelong was originally scheduled to have the NBN service rolled out in existing suburbs midway through 2014, but the election of a new government with new NBN policies forced a schedule reassessment.
ICT Geelong Steering Committee determined that although NBN is still an option, HFC cable internet is another avenue which is not fully used. The Committee also notes that Geelong Wireless is currently there just to gain interest and are tackling black spots.
